The Esports World Cup 2025 brought together the world's leading players, teams and gaming communities in Riyadh for a seven-week celebration of competitive gaming.

The Unusual Group played a vital role in delivering the rigging infrastructure behind the Esports World Cup 2025 Opening Ceremony at Riyadh's ANB Arena. Working alongside an international production team, our specialists coordinated the rigging operations, lifting systems, motion-control resources and technical crew required to support the show's complex staging, lighting, video and scenic elements.

With extensive planning, specialist equipment and experienced personnel, we helped create the safe and reliable framework that enabled the creative vision to come to life on one of the world's most ambitious entertainment stages.

Star in Motion, a world-record-breaking spectacle created by Koert Vermeulen, was designed to shine 300 metres above Riyadh at the summit of Kingdom Centre during the city’s annual festival of light and art.

The Unusual Group delivered the installation with exceptional precision, suspending the 5.5-tonne structure on four 100 mm Dyneema ropes, each with a 490-tonne breaking load. To ensure absolute stability, the team applied 50 tonnes of tension, keeping the star perfectly positioned high above the city skyline.

Every aspect of the project demanded meticulous planning, from structural calculations and load management to installation logistics and safety procedures, all carried out while working hundreds of metres above ground level.
